The four of us visited the desolate shelter. Arrived at 8pm. 2 hours drive by road from Ho Chi Minh City. Pitch darkness & no decent access road (mud filled). We had to walk about 500m. We found 35 children aged between 3 months old right up to 14 years. The place was lighted up by a 1 HP petrol generator (barely could see ourselves). Approximately 50 dogs were present co-existing with these children. Some adults were present. Food and clean water was scarce. No medicines, no vitamins, no education, no dignity... The kids are constantly being attacked by insects and creepy crawlers as the shelter is surrounded by Padi Fields.
Our Immediate Aim: To search for donors / sponsors to relocate these kids into houses closer to the city where basic amenities can be met i.e. clean water & electricity. Donors / sponsors could come forward with monetary help which will be most required for the relocation project. Nutritious food, vitamins, medicine, napkins, underwear, clothes, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, etc… is absolutely neccessary and urgently required.
Ultimate Aim: To ensure the children be loved and cared for. Adequate food, clothes & education. To live a dignified life.
